Switching Node Design
Engineering reference on Switching Node Design for wireless power system design, integration, and deployment.

The switching node is the connection between bridge output and resonant network — highest dV/dt and current in the inverter. Its layout defines loop inductance, probe accessibility, and proximity to sensitive circuits.
In wireless charging, the node often feeds series or parallel compensation capacitors and the coil — impedance at this point is the heart of soft switching.
01Layout principles
- Short wide copper to tank capacitors and coil leads.
- No sense traces crossing node copper on same layer.
- Shield or distance for communication cables near pad interior.
02Measurement
Use differential probes with short grounds — ground clip inductance lies about ring amplitude. Fiber-isolated scope for floating node on high-voltage docks.
03Mechanical
- Coil terminal bolts torque-specified — loose joint adds resistance and micro-arcing.
- Strain relief on coil leads so vibration does not crack solder at node.
